There are currently five trade organisations who are accredited by the Construction Licensing Executive. These are, in alphabetical order:

Membership of the HVCA in Scotland comprises almost 200 companies with a combined turnover of £400m. While very much an integral part of the HVCA as a whole, HVCA Scotland has its own chairman and its own executive committee.
A Scottish Contracts Committee ensures that legislation and working practices peculiar to Scotland are fully understood by the membership. A Scottish Contractors' Safety Group offers a forum for the discussion of health and safety matters. And a sub-group dedicated to Scottish service and facilities concerns meets on a regular basis.
HVCA Scotland is a member of Scottish CASEC, which represents the interests of the specialist contracting sector. Membership covers industrial, commercial, refrigeration, air conditioning, ductwork, domestic heating and service and facilities.

Scottish Building is the principal employers' federation representing the construction industry in Scotland. The federation's corporate membership comprises over 800 companies ranging from small local based contractors to large regional and national contractors. Member companies are also members of one or more of 18 Local Associations organised on a geographical, or in some cases trade-specific basis, allowing members to come together to discuss and resolve local issues. The federation fully endorses craft training of apprentices in Scotland with a very close involvement with apprenticeship registration through the Scottish Building Apprenticeship & Training Council. Scottish Building is at the forefront of developing all the necessary components, which comprise the successful Scottish construction industry today.

The Scottish Decorators Federation is the only recognized organization representing the Scottish painting and decorating industry. The Federation represents its members in all aspects of the industry, i.e. education and training, technical and contractual problems, lobbying government etc. It has an active buying group which provides members further benefit from manufacturers. It fully supports licensing of contractors through the CLE
. Currently the Federation has 300 members.

SELECT
is the trade association for the electrotechnical industry in Scotland. The association was formed in 1900 as The Electrical Contractors' Association of Scotland and we have served our members, the public and Scotland's industrial base for the last 100 years by setting and maintaining industry standards.
Over 560 member companies carry out work across the full range of electrotechnical disciplines. In electrical installation alone, SELECT
members carry out 90% of all such work in Scotland.

The Plumbing Industry Licensing Scheme is operated by SNIPEF
and was formally launched in early 2002. Some 550 firms have become licensed businesses with, to date over 120 meeting the additional requirements to become CLE
approved licensed businesses. Ultimately, SNIPEF
intends that its entire membership of some 800 firms will become CLE
licensed businesses.
