Minimum Criteria of the CLE

Technical Capability:

including adherence with statutory and other regulations. This will be subject to appropriate inspections

Employee Skills and Qualifications:

including a requirement for businesses to provide evidence of the qualifications and competence of their staff (including the possession of appropriate skill cards such as those affiliated to the CSCS arrangements). Need to show commitment to the training and development of operatives.

Financial Probity:

businesses will be required to provide evidence of financial integrity both on application and on an ongoing basis

Customer Care and Commitment to a Code of Practice: individual schemes should have appropriate codes of practice and provide an appropriate independent complaint mechanism

Warranty:

there should be an appropriate form of warranty to provide protection to consumers

Health & Safety:

businesses will be required to meet all statutory obligations and to pay particular attention to Health & Safety issues

Liability Insurance:

businesses must provide evidence of Public Liability Insurance to a minimum level of £2M and comply with statutory requirements for employers’ liability insurance.
